This story is about a young child who was left home alone one night, but protected by his dog.The parents told the boy to lock all the windows and doors after they had left. But there was one window in the basement that would not close completely.Trying as best as he could he finally got the window shut, but it would not lock. So he left the window, and went back upstairs.Settling down, he snuggled up in bed. His dog slept underneath his bed and he reached his hand down and let the dog lick it as he said goodnight.A few hours after drifting into sleep, he woke. A rustling outside. He felt nervous so he reached his hand over the edge of his bed, and let the dog lick his hand for reasurance that he would protect him.As he was drifting back into sleep, a loud thumping sound woke him.
